Joanne Marshall, 73, of Union Township passed away the evening of May 24, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family following her courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 2, 1948 in New Castle, Joanne was the daughter of the late Roger Gibson, Sr. and Mary Slaman Gibson. Joanne is survived by her beloved husband, Jack Marshall, who she married on November 24, 1967.
Joanne had worked for Union Area School District as a confidential secretary to the school Superintendent for thirty-four years, until she retired.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary site, where she shared her strong faith in God. Joanne enjoyed biking. A loving wife, mother and grandmother her family was everything, especially her grandchildren, whom she lived life for.
In addition to her husband, Joanne is survived by her daughter, Laurie Marshall of New Castle, her brother, Roger Gibson, Jr. of Sterling, CT and her two grandchildren, Mary and Jonah.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her son, John P. Marshall.
Honoring her wishes there are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Brendan Dawson will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
Eternal rest grant unto Joanne, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
