James E. Clare, 71, of New Castle, passed away the evening of May 19, 2021 at UPMC Mercy. Born on March 25, 1950 in New Castle, he was the son of the late James W. and Winifred Norris Clare. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, the former Patrice Venturi who he married on March 4, 1972.
Jim retired after thirty-five years from the New Castle Area School District where he had taught Elementary Physical Education. He is a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site. Jim was an avid golfer and bowler and always enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers football games. For many years, he was an assistant baseball coach for New Castle High School and a longtime baseball coach for Little League and the American Legion, post 343. A loving husband, father and very proud grandfather his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children, James E. Clare, Jr. and Jason R. Clare and his wife, Emily, all of New Castle, two sisters, Jo Ellen Weingartner and Jackie Kosin and her husband, Rich, all of New Castle and his two grandchildren, Jonah R. Clare and Julia Clare.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Joseph McCaffrey, Pastor, will officiate. Entombment will be in Parkside Mausoleum. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
Give Jim eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on him forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord. Amen.
