James D. Janowski, 69, of Pulaski passed away the afternoon of February 14, 2022 at UPMC Passavant. Born on July 9, 1952 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Joseph and Joan Zajac Janowski. On September 13, 1980 Jim married his beloved wife, the former Jo Ann Litwinovich. She survives at home.
Jim had worked as a clerk for B&O Railroad. He then worked for the Youth Development Center as a House Parent until he retired. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. Jim had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jim was an avid Star Wars and Sci Fi enthusiast who enjoyed watching the movies and collecting memorabilia. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Jim’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will also be missed by his beloved dogs.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children, Christina Wilson (Ryan) of Rockmart, GA and Stephanie Courson (Shawn) of New Castle, two brothers, Joseph and John Janowski, six sisters, Michelle Halfhill, Barbara Dickie, Judy Galmarini, Kathy Keane, Lynn Pionati and Joni Janosko and six grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Beth Cianciola.
Visitation will be on Thursday 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Rites at the funeral home on Thursday. A Blessing Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the Veteran Section of Parkside Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Jim, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
