James A. Fortuna, 72, of Neshannock Township, passed away the evening of March 12, 2022 at UPMC Shadyside. Born on April 28, 1948 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Albert and Betty J. DeGennaro Fortuna. On September 13, 1975, Jim married his beloved wife, the former Karen White. She survives at home.
In 1971, Jim graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. He had worked as a pharmacist at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Butler, PA for many years until he retired. Jim was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus site.
He was an avid golfer and loved being out on the golf course. For many years, Jim played in the Larry George Golf League in Butler. He was also a member of Avalon Lakes Country Club. Jim enjoyed watching all types of sports on T.V. A loving husband and father, Jim’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his son, Andrew Fortuna of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Allen (A.J.) Fortuna.
Visitation will be on Thursday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. A procession will leave the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus Church. Father Benjamin Barr will officiate. Entombment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
Eternal rest grant unto Jim, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
