It is hard to believe that we are already in the middle of the month of July! I know that we, as a parish, are very excited about the newly established Holy Spirit Academy and our prospects for this coming school year. Here is an update from our principal, Ed Sharbaugh, regarding Holy Spirit Academy.
We are very excited about the renewed life the school has been given by Fr. McCaffrey and the Diocese. The outstanding quality of academic excellence continues to grow and the
new look of Holy Spirit Academy, with the blue and orange colors and its eagle mascot, shouts, “We are taking flight, bold in the Spirit.”
I think most everyone recognizes how important it is for students to get back in the building for essential, face to face interaction. To that end, we have developed some very practical and viable solutions to the challenges facing us when we return. We feel we have developed a plan which is prudent without being prohibitive. With modified procedures to which the students will easily adapt, I am optimistic that we will be hugely successful in meeting students’ needs academically, socially and spiritually.
We have had a number of new families enroll this year and some of our classes are near full capacity. We encourage
anyone interested in learning more about the new Holy Spirit Academy and our plans for the upcoming school year to contact the school.
—Ed Sharbaugh, Principal
I am very proud of Mr. Sharbaugh and his work at Holy Spirit Academy! This is a wonderful gift for our families, and especially our children in Lawrence County. Our school is so blessed to be able to service our children in a special way that the public schools cannot. We are certainly surrounded by very good public schools. But, a public school is bound by a secular culture which has a hostility to religion. That was not always the case in our country, but it certainly is today. Having your child in Holy Spirit Academy provides an atmosphere based on Catholic Christian values.
We strive for academic excellence, but this is not void of our other striving—for connection with God and a moral excellence as the foundation of one’s life. Many children who have not been able to succeed in public school have flourished in the environment of a Catholic school. This is why we have been working so very hard to keep our school alive and healthy.
If there were ever a time when our community could benefit from a Catholic education, it is now!
Holy Spirit Academy belongs to all of Lawrence County! We are Bold in the spirit; taking flight!
