Helen McHattie

April 20, 1928 to February 11, 2020

Helen R. McHattie, 91, of New Castle passed away the morning of February 11, 2020 at Quality Life Services of New Castle. Born on April 20, 1928 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Mary Swarney. On July 3, 1948, Helen married her beloved husband, Norman C. McHattie. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2008.

Helen was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Joseph the Worker Site. Helen enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting and knitting. A loving mother and grandmother her greatest joy was time spent with her family.

Helen is survived by her sons, Robert L. McHattie and his wife Debbie of New Castle, Greg McHattie of Butler and her grandchild, Zane McHattie. In addition to her parents and husband Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Roman.

Visitation will be on Thursday 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St. A Blessing Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
