Helen E. Ames, 94, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, passed away the morning Nov. 25, 2022, at the Haven Convalescent Home. Helen was born July 1, 1928 in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Valocik) Tomco. Helen was married to the late Samuel P. Ames. He preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2021. They were married for 65 years.
Helen was a member of Holy Spirit Parish-St. Vincent de Paul site. She will be remembered by her family as a loving mother and aunt. She enjoyed baking, raising flowers, gardening, dancing and traveling. Known for her baking cookies for holidays and weddings, she enjoyed taking care of her children. Helen loved to decorate her home.
Mrs. Ames is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Erboe of New Castle; two sons, Richard (Gloria) Ames of Eighty-Four, Pennsylvania, and Kenneth (Janet) Ames of Canfield, Ohio; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Samuel, Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Klabon.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle. A procession will leave the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, for Holy Spirit Parish-St. Mary Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. The Rev. Aaron Kriss, parochial vicar of Holy Spirit Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Helen, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
