Helen C. Tommelleo, 94, of Neshannock Township passed away the afternoon of January 6, 2023 at UPMC Jameson. Born on August 10,1928 in New Castle, Helen was the daughter of the late Frank and Angeline Cwiakala Cwynar. Helen was married to her beloved husband, Ugo Tommelleo. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1981. An avid business woman, Helen owned and operated Mahoning Cut Rate Drug Store from 1950 to 1960. She also owned M & H Fire Protection Company from 1975 to 1982. Helen enjoyed being involved in local politics. She served as a Republican Committee Woman for many years in the New Castle 7th Ward, first precinct district. Helen was responsible for the first awarded scholarships for children in the 7th Ward. A loving mother and grandmother, Helen’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her children, Cheryl Tommelleo Regal (Bob), Sharon Tommila, and Clyde Tommelleo (Kathy);her brother, Frank Cwynar, and two grandchildren, Jacqueline Regal and Joseph Tommelleo.
In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by four brothers, Alex, John, Edward and Theodore Cwynar, three sisters, Betty Melozzi, Bertha Meharg and Mary Kwiat.
Visitation will be on Tuesday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. A Blessing Service, officiated by Fr. Ben Barr of Holy Spirit Parish, will be held Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will St Lucy Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Helen, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
