Gloria L. Soukovich, 78, of 308 E. Hazelcroft Ave., passed away the evening of May 2, 2021, with her family by her side. Gloria was born on May 21, 1942, in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Latina) Condas. Gloria was married to the late Anthony J. Soukovich Jr. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2005. They were married for 40 years.
Mrs. Soukovich was Roman Catholic and attended Holy Spirit Parish, Mary, Mother of Hope site. She was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1960. She continued her education and earned her registered nursing license at UPMC Presbyterian Nursing School in 1963. Gloria retired after 42 years of service as a registered nurse. She started her career in Pittsburgh, and then moved to New Castle and worked in the maternity ward at Jameson Memorial Hospital for 30 years. Gloria loved watching her grandchildren play baseball and football. She also enjoyed cooking for her family. She was known for her sweet tea. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Gloria is survived by her two children, David A. Soukovich and daughter, Kimberly A. (Tracy) Rubis, both of New Castle; brother, Jeffrey (Angie) Condas of New Castle; sister, Georgia Nuzzo of New Castle; two grandchildren, Vincent G. Soukovich and Madison M. Soukovich; two stepgrandchildren, Ashleigh Rubis and Nicholas Rubis, all of New Castle; a stepgreat-granddaughter, Nora Hayden of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill St. A Blessing Service and Rite of Committal will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at the funeral home. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
