Gilda Jackson, 86, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of December 24, 2020 at her residence. Born in New Castle on March 5, 1934, Gilda was the daughter of the late William and Louise DePasquale Caparoula. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Jackson, Sr., whom she married in 1952.
Gilda was a member of the Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site. She enjoyed playing bingo and bowling. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, especially being surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Gilda is survived by her two children, Linda Mazzocco and Charles Jackson, Jr. and his wife, Susan, both of New Castle; brothers, James Caparoula and Robert Caparoula, both of New Castle; her sisters, Sylvia Peabody and Nora Robinson, both of New Castle, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, John and Richard Caparoula and her sisters, Phyllis Yeropoli, Theresa Suzow, Julia Schofield, Adeline Scully and Mary Scully.
Due to the current health crisis, a private blessing service officiated by Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will be held at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Burial will take place at Oak Park Cemetery.
Lord God, you are attentive to the voice of our pleading. Give Gilda eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on her forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord. Amen.
