Gabriel (Gabe) J. Boron, 91, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly the afternoon of Dec. 28, 2021, at his residence. Gabe was born March 18, 1930, in New Castle, the son of the late Kazimir and Sophia (Dydek) Boron.
Mr. Boron was a Roman Catholic and a member of Holy Spirit Parish-St. Vincent de Paul site. Gabe was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1948. Mr. Boron enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on Jan. 10, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and served his country during the Korean War. He earned the rank of a 2nd Class Electrician’s Mate, and was assigned to the USS Forster. Gabe received the National Service Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 11, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Gabe retired after more than 30 years of service as a block encaser and molder at the former Universal Rundle Corporation in New Castle. He was a life member of VFW Post 522, and Polish Falcons Nest 146. He enjoyed going fishing in Canada with his brother, Ben, for over 50 years. Gabe also enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Gabe is survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Stanley (Ram), Frank, Walter and Ben Boron; and three sisters, Josephine Paden, Ann Ferk and Louise J. Dick.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 S. Mill St. A Blessing Service and Rite of Committal will be held immediately following visitation in the funeral home. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in SS. Philip and James Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Gabe, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
