By now I am sure you have heard the exciting news that Sr. Annie Bremmer has been named a recipient of the Catholic Charities Caritas Award this year, representing Lawrence County. The Caritas Award is presented to those who exemplify Christ-like love for the poor and vulnerable, such as Sister Annie’s leadership in expanding our Food Pantry, which has fed 200-300 families every Saturday since the start of the pandemic. She also coordinates health fairs and distributions of shoes and boots for the poor and homeless.
Of course, this amazing woman does all of this while at the same time revamping our Faith Formation and Youth Ministry programs!
We are truly blessed to have her on our staff and in our midst! She truly embodies the Franciscan spirituality which is joyful, loving, and tenacious!
We are also very proud of our seminarian, Dan Roberts, who will receive candidacy in a special ceremony on Sunday, April 23rd at the 9:00AM Mass by Bishop Zubik. The Parish will host a reception for Dan in Fabbri Hall immediately following the Mass.
Candidacy means that Dan will be officially accepted by the Bishop as a candidate for the priesthood. Dan’s pastoral year with us will end this June. He will return to the theological seminary in Washington, D.C. to complete his studies. In a year or so he will be ordained a transitional deacon and then a priest. The Diocese must trust us with their most precious treasure, which is our seminarians, because as Dan leaves us this June, a new seminarian, Anthony Pampena, is being assigned to us to begin his summer experience in our parish. Watch my column for more information about Anthony.
Please see Page 5 for the Lenten Confession Schedule, which has been expanded. Also, please join us as the teens present the Stations of the Cross in a moving presentation at St. Vitus on March 31st at 7:00PM.
Continued blessings on your Lent as we quickly approach the highest holy days of the year.
