Fred J. Peluso, Sr., 94, formerly of New Castle, passed away the morning of December 17, 2022 at his daughter’s home in Verona, WI where he had resided for the last 4.5 years. Born in Tampa, Florida on July 7, 1928, Fred was the son of the late Nicholas and Philomena Genovese Peluso.Preceding him in death on October 28, 2004, was his devoted wife of over fifty-one years, the former Dolores Iafrat, whom he married on May 2, 1953.
Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary’s site. He retired after working forty-three years at Shenango China as a kiln placer and finished in maintenance and welding. He later went on to work as a custodian for the First Christian Church. Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a member of the Mahoning Sportsman Club and most of all loved family time.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane Barlett (Carl) of Verona, WI and his son, Fred Peluso, Jr (Jean) of New Castle and three grandchildren Carl Barlett (Peggy), Valerie Barlett (Morgan), and Courtney McGovern (Kurt) and 9 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Fred is preceded in death by his brothers, John, Elbert, Nicholas, Jr. and Orlando Peluso and his sisters, Louise Peplowski, Ann Shuler and Christine Peluso. He also was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Annagrace Peluso.
A private Blessing Service for the family per his wishes will be held at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St conducted by Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish.
Eternal rest grant unto Fred, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
