Frank F. Cavelli, Sr., of New Castle passed away the morning of August 18, 2022 at his residence. Born on December 29, 1929 in Canton, Ohio, Frank was the son of the late Ralph Covelli, Sr. and Sandra Farone Covelli. Frank married his beloved wife, the former Peggy J. Snyder, on May 22, 1951. She survives at home.
Frank had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War Era. Frank retired as an Inspector for Youngstown Sheet & Tube after thirty- five years of service. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site.
Frank was a member of VFW Post 315, Sons of Italy and Sylvan Height Senior Golf League. He was the founder of the Senior Bocce League in New Castle. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather, Frank’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his children, Frank Cavelli, Jr. (Barbara), Kathleen Procopio (Richard) and Mary Jane Fraser (John) all of New Castle, two brothers, Richard Cavelli and Robert Covelli (Glenda) all of New Castle, ten grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his son, Edward Cavelli, his daughter, Debra Cavelli, two sisters, Donna Vanasco and Elizabeth Black and one brother, Ralph Covelli, Jr. and his grandson, David Cavelli.
Visitation will be on Monday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Full Military Rites on Monday at the funeral home at 5:45 p.m. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 6:00 p.m. Seminarian, Dan Roberts of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Frank, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
