Filomena (Phyllis) Angelina Bucciarelli, 93, of New Castle, passed away the evening of March 18, 2020 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 14, 1926 in Pizzoferrato, Chieti, Italy and came to America at the age of two. Her parents, Michael and Domenica Fagnilli Casciato preceded her in death. On November 22, 1952, Phyllis married her beloved husband, Emilio Bucciarelli in Hamilton, Ontario. He survives at home.
In the early years, Phyllis worked for Shenango Pottery. She then worked for Jameson Hospital as a dietary aide and finished out her last years working, as a Cafeteria Monitor at George Washington School until she was eighty years old. Phyllis was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site. Phyllis was a member of the Ladies of the Dukes. She enjoyed cooking and baking. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother her greatest joy was her family.
In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by her children, Paul Bucciarelli of New Castle, Linda Bucciarelli Rodgers and her husband, John, of Pittsburgh, Lori Bucciarelli and her spouse, Tomi Herold, of Pittsburgh, two brothers, Michael and Daniel Casciato, both of New Castle, her sister, Jennie Mangiarelli of Boardman, Ohio, two grandchildren, Justin Latore and wife Katie, Jordan Latore, two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Isabella.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her brother, Dominick Casciato and her sister, Josephine A. Casciato.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Phyllis’ caregiver and special friend Marlene Hosbach for her loving and compassionate care over the last four years. Due to the current health crisis within our communities, the family will hold a private Blessing Service at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill Street. Father Brendan Dawson will officiate. Entombment will be in Parkside Cemetery.
