Erin Ann Rooney, 63, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly the morning of March 21, 2022, at her home. Born November 19, 1958, in New Castle, she was the daughter of John A. and Rebecca V. (Fazzone) Rooney.
Erin was a graduate of New Castle High School and attended Erie Business School. She worked at Community Alternatives as a bookkeeper for 14 years. Among her many interests, she enjoyed reading, watching old television shows and eating popcorn. She was a dog lover and the best moments of her life were enjoyed baking with her grandchildren and the many makeovers they gave her.
She is survived by two sons, Mark (Jenine) DeSalvo of West Middlesex and Matthew (Emily) DeSalvo of Wampum; two sisters, Maureen Rooney and Colleen Rooney Higbee, both of Cranberry Twp; and six grandchildren, Danica, Leah, Cheyenne, Layla and Matthew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Rooney in 2021, and one granddaughter, Eliana.
A Memorial Mass, celebrated by Fr. Ben Barr, will be held on Friday, March 25, at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary Church, 124 N. Beaver Street, New Castle.
Eternal rest grant unto Erin, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
