Dorothy M. Perrotta, 90, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of February 11, 2022 at UPMC Jameson. Born in New Castle on December 31, 1931, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Joseph and Philomena Conti Ona. Preceding her in death on September 19, 2016, is her husband of over sixty-four years, Robert A. “Tex” Perrotta, whom she married on October 20, 1951.
Dorothy was a devoted member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vincent de Paul site where she enjoyed singing with the church and bereavement choirs. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth McGarey (Elwood) of Warren, MI, Cindy Mangina, Mary Ann Effinite (Bartholomew), Ann Staransky (Donald) and her son, Robert J. Perrotta (Kimberley); all of New Castle, her sister, Rosa Perrotta of New Castle, twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy is preceded in death by her brother, Domenic Ona and her sisters, Grace Russo, Nancy Padula, Marjorie Ruby and Bertha Lombardo.
Visitation is Tuesday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory,941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 am for Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 pm officiated by Father Benjamin Barr. Burial will take place at St. Lucy Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Dorothy, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
