Dorothy Duda Dzemyan, 90, passed away on Nov. 6, 2019, at St. John's the 23rd Home in Hermitage. Dorothy was a daughter of Joseph M. and Suzanna Klamar Duda. She was born on Feb. 13, 1929, in New Castle. Dorothy was married for 69 years to John P. Dzemyan. He survives in Greenville at St. Paul's.
Dorothy graduated from Shenango High School and worked at the Bell Telephone for five years as a switchboard operator, prior to raising her family. She was an active member at the former St. Michael Church and the Ladies Guild. She continued her involvement with St. Vincent de Paul, which is now Holy Spirit Parish. Dorothy enjoyed playing cards with her friends in the cards clubs in New Castle.
In addition to her husband, John P. Dzemyan; she is survived by her sons, John (Holly) Dzemyan of Smethport, Pennsylvania, and Daniel (Susan) Dzemyan of New Castle; daughter, Patricia (Timothy) Lockley of New Castle; grandchildren, Alexis (Frank) LaFuria, James (Julie) Tomasovich, Michael (Sarah) Tomasovich, Scott (Julie) Dzemyan, Russell (Jenette) Dzemyan, Josiah (Eileen) Lockley, Katherine (Ben) Lockley, Justine (Trevin) Dear and Danielle (Alex) Rohal; and great-grandchildren, Isaac LaFuria, Max LaFuria, James Tomasovich, Edward Tomasovich, Alexandria Dzemyan, Chase Dzemyan, Elyse Dzemyan and Louis Tomasovich.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cynthia Tomasovich; brothers, Joseph, Michael, John, Stephen and Albert Duda; and sisters, Helen Leibig, Mary Pagley, Pauline Canupp and Susan Elder.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9 a.m. Saturday for a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Brendan Dawson officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.
