Dorothy Caggiano-Rusnak, age 95, of Youngstown, Ohio, passed away the early morning of May 29, 2022, at Park Vista of Youngstown. Born Nov. 23, 1926, in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Barbara (Dzyak) Bigley. For 45 years she was married to Mr. Russell Caggiano, of New Castle, PA, before he preceded her in death in 1991. Subsequently, she married Mr. Ronald Rusnak, who preceded her in death in 2017.
At the age of 16, Dorothy was a riveter at Perfection Stove in Cleveland, Ohio, where she made hoods for WWII fighter planes. She was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress at Main Street Clothiers. She enjoyed crocheting, dancing, bingo, cooking, baking, and taking care of her family and was very active with her friends. Dorothy was a member of the former St. Lawrence Church, in Hillsville, PA and more recently at St. Christine Roman Catholic Church, in Youngstown, Ohio.
Survivors include two sons, Lawrence ‘Larry’ (Marilyn) Caggiano and Michael (Sue) Caggiano, both of New Castle, PA; one daughter, Karin (Jim) Cimini of Hanover, PA; five grandchildren, Russ (Jeanette) Caggiano of New Castle, PA, Jennie Caggiano of New Castle, PA, Richard Cimini of Hanover, PA, Benjamin (Monica) Cimini of Dayton, MD, and Stacy (Scott) Colimore of Phoenix, MD; and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and first and second husbands, Dorothy was preceded in death by all of her siblings.
Visitation will be held on Thursday. June 2, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington, Road, New Castle. A Blessing Service, officiated by Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish, will follow immediately at 11:00 am. Entombment will be at CastleView Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Dorothy, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
