Doris M. Masters, 94, passed away the morning of March 28, 2021 at Assumption Village in North Lima, Ohio. Born on February 9, 1927 in Bessemer, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Hazel Benson Carr. On February 5, 1945, she married her beloved husband, Anthony C. “Corky” Masters. He preceded her in death on August 18, 1981.
Doris had worked for many years as a sales clerk for Strouss Department Store.She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vincent de Paul Site.Doris was an avid reader. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, working in her flower garden, singing and listening to music. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Doris’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.
Doris is survived by her children, Thomas A. (Corky) Masters and his wife, Louise, of New Castle, Margaret Gennaro and her husband, Rocco, of Boardman, Ohio, Andrew (Corky) Masters and his wife, Terry, of New Castle, five grandchildren, Doris Jean Masters, Thomas Anthony Masters, Allison Marie Masters, Michelle (Christopher) Koons and Nicole (Keith) Pointer, four great-grandchildren, Mason and Hallie Koons and Gabriella and Maddalena Pointer.
In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by two sisters, Jesse Rowe and Virginia Haering.
Private visitation for the family will be held at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site. Father Brendan Dawson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.
