Diann Lynn Ruozzo, 67, of S. Lafayette Street in Mahoningtown, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital in Boardman, OH. She was born in New Castle on July 7, 1955, a daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Ferarre) Casciato. She married James J. Ruozzo on October 22, 1977, he survives in New Castle.
Mrs. Ruozzo was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site. She taught at St. Vitus School teaching 6th grade and 1st grade for a number of years. She then worked for the Midwestern Intermediate 4 in New Castle and Sharon teaching GED and Job Skills for 8 years. Mrs. Ruozzo graduated from Geneva College, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She helped coach softball and organized activities at school functions. She was on her high school reunion committee and was past president of the St. Vitus PTG. She enjoyed swimming, but above all she loved being a mother and a grandmother.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Christopher J. Ruozzo and wife, Amber, of Ellwood City and Stephanie M. Ruozzo of New Castle; one granddaughter, Marina M. Ruozzo; one sister, Donna Giangiulio and husband, Joseph of New Castle; one niece, Marla DeFrank and husband, Matthew; and one nephew, Joseph Giangiulio.
Visitation was held Sunday, June 11, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A funeral procession left the funeral home at 10:00 am for the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated Monday, June 12, 2023, at 10:30 am at Holy Spirit Parish in St. Vitus Church. Burial was at St. Vitus Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Diann, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
