Diana D. Vastano, 86, of New Castle passed away the morning of October 7, 2023 at her son’s residence in Pulaski, PA. Born in Ellwood City on August 28, 1937, Diana was the daughter of the late Concordia and Anna M. Morello Paglia. On August 30, 1958, Diana married her beloved husband, Samuel S. Vastano. Sam preceded her in death on December 8, 2015.
In early years, Diana had worked at K-Mart and then at First Federal Bank. Diana was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Ladies of Faith. She was an avid Bocce League Player. Diana was also a member of the Bunco Club and the Westfield Church JOY group. Diana enjoyed going to Challenges and line dancing. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Diana’s greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Diana is survived by her children, Donna M. Carr (Jerry), Samuel J. Vastano (Amy); two sisters, Joann Goe and Kathleen Gorzkowski; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Diana was preceded in death by her son, Andrew S. Vastano; three brothers, Anthony, Joseph and Thomas Paglia; and four sisters, Delores Perry, Margaret Bullano, Rose Paglia and Mary Ann Turconi.
Visitation will be Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. Family and friends will meet on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. for Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church at 9:00 a.m. Father Benjamin Barr will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Diana, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
