Dennis M. Bok, 70, of New Castle, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at his residence with his family by his side. Dennis was born on Aug. 28, 1949 in New Castle. He was a son of the late Matthew and Genevieve (Mrozek) Bok. Mr. Bok was married to the former Patricia L. Weaver. They were married for 39 years. She survives at home.
Dennis was Roman Catholic and attended Holy Spirit Parish - Mary, Mother of Hope site. He was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1968. Following graduation, Dennis enlisted in the United State Army on June 13, 1969, at U.S. Army Admissions Center in St. Louis. He earned the rank of SP5. Mr. Bok received many decorations and citations, among them were the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on June 12, 1975 in Pittsburgh. Dennis retired after more than 35 years of service as a machinist at the former Universal Rundle here in New Castle, and Universal Refractories in Wampum.
Mr. Bok enjoyed working in his gardens, growing both vegetables and garlic. Dennis enjoyed going to flea markets and buying and collecting coins. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, Dennis is survived by three sons, William Albert Weaver, Paul Leroy Weaver and Nicholas Matthew Bok, all of New Castle; a daughter, Mercedes Maria Cragle of New Castle; brother, Gary (Loraine) Bok of New Castle; sister, Sandra Bok of Orlando, Florida; and four grandchildren, Theo Weaver, Adam Lee Weaver, James Cragle and Lucas Cragle.
Mr. Bok was preceded in death by his parents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 18, 2020, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill St., New Castle, Pa. 16101. A Blessing Service will be held Friday, June 19, 2020, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Rite of Committal and entombment will take place at Castle View Mausoleum. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full military honors for Dennis at the cemetery.
