Delores M. (Dee) Venturi, 90, of New Castle passed away the morning of June 16, 2021 at Quality Life Services of New Castle. Born on January 15, 1931 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Rose M. Naples Fulena. On October 20, 1951, Dee married her beloved husband, Richard J. Venturi, Sr. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1990.
Dee had worked for many years at the former St. Francis Hospital as a television hostess. Dee retired as a secretary in the office of Dr. Balderach. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site and a member of the church’s Ladies Guild. Dee loved to dance and served as chairwoman of the Cascade Park Dance Committee for many years. She was an avid bowler. Dee enjoyed sewing, walking, and going to Challenges. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dee’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.
Dee is survived by her daughter, Patrice Clare of New Castle, her son, Richard Venturi, Jr. and his wife, Lorri, of Leland, North Carolina, four grandchildren, James Clare, Jr., Jason Clare and his wife, Emily, Sara Venturi, and Ross Venturi, two great-grandchildren, Jonah and Julia.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dee was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles (Chuck) Fulena, and John (Jack) Fulena, her sister, Lucretia (Cre) Fair and her son-in-law, James Clare.
Visitation will be on Friday 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. A procession will leave the funeral home on Friday at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Brendan Dawson and Deacon Mark Fair will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
