This is Gaudete Sunday! We have a reason to rejoice! Jesus is our Savior. He has conquered sin and death! We know these are challenging times. But we also know that as people of faith, we are not alone in facing the challenges of life. Thanks to all of you for stepping up and living your faith by persevering in praying for others and for doing what you can to assist those most in need. Living our faith when it counts is a joyful thing. Now is the time; it counts more than ever!
The parish of Holy Spirit has persevered through these surreal days of pandemic and national upheaval as well as economic difficulty. We have not stopped living or proclaiming the gospel.
If we have your email, you should have received a survey in your email from Holy Spirit. This survey is due back to us by Monday the 21st. Paper surveys are available in the bulletin bins or at the parish offices at St. James and St. Vitus. This is your opportunity to know the facts facing our parish and also provide your input on how we should proceed in light of the truth of our situation.
The world in which we live is not standing still. Nor can we. With confidence in our Savior, Emmanuel God with us, we can and will face our future as a community and a parish with hope and trust! We can do this! The earlier followers of Jesus had far more struggles and obstacles, pains and sufferings than we are faced with today. They survived it bravely and nobly. Now is the time for us to shine and be a light in the darkness.
Let us pray, Lord help us desire what you desire and give us the grace to do it! Our future is in your hands. Please help us to understand what is your will. Lead and guide us that we may build the community of faith that is so needed in this part of your kingdom. Let our little ones, their parents, the elderly and those that are the most vulnerable in our midst know our love and care for them. May everything we do begin with your inspiration and continue with your grace and be truly fulfilled to the honor and glory of your name! Amen.
On this joyful Sunday, may we truly rejoice, knowing that we are not alone in our struggles. Our Savior is with us and will not leave us to face our trials alone.
