Daryl Gwin Quimby, age 76, of Union Township, passed away the evening of May 15, 2021 at UPMC Passavant-McCandless Hospital, in Pittsburgh. Born Sept. 14, 1944 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Martin David and Elizabeth Ann (Gwin) Quimby. On April 4, 1964, he married his beloved wife of 45 years, Frances (Black) Quimby. She preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 2009.
Mr. Quimby was a graduate of New Wilmington High School and then went on to attend technical school. For several years, he was a draftsman for Wean United and was also a police officer and volunteer fireman for Union Township. He was the treasurer of the Shenango China Hunting and Fishing Club, he enjoyed collecting and selling guns and watches, and had a great love for fishing. What Daryl treasured the most in life, was family dinners and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary site.
Daryl is survived by four sons, David G. (Teresa) Quimby of Enon Valley, PA, Douglas G. (Tracy) Quimby of New Castle, PA, Daryl G. Quimby of New Castle, PA, and Dwayne G. Quimby (partner-Dena Perkins) of New Castle, PA; one daughter, Kathryn E. Corso(partner-Hugh Pape) of Bessemer, PA; three brothers, Patrick (Sue) Quimby of New Castle, PA, Martin (Angela) Quimby of New Castle, PA and Peter (Dawn) Quimby of VA; two sisters, Kay Faye of Maine, Mary Jo Dugan of Mercer, PA; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A Blessing Service officiated by Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will be held on Friday, May 21, at 11:00 am, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
