Dale F. (Ed) Schmidt, 70, of 2925 W. State St., New Castle, passed away the early morning of Feb. 27, 2021, at UPMC Jameson. Dale was born Oct. 19, 1950, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to the late George A. and Ruth Ann (Smith) Schmidt. Dale married the former Cathy R. Kradel. They were married for 42 years. She survives at home.
Mr. Schmidt graduated from Union Area High School, class of 1968. He received his bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Dale worked for 30 years at INMETCO in Ellwood City as an electrical engineer prior to his retirement.
He loved to cook for his family and go shopping for his girls. Mr. Schmidt was the vice-chair on the Union Township Zoning Board. Many people in the area knew him as Uncle Ed.
In addition to his wife, Cathy, survivors include his daughter, Kelly Kradel Schmidt from New Castle; sisters-in-law, Stacey Kradel and Kimberly J. Disque, both of New Castle; two loving nieces, Nicole (Rob) Disque-King and McKenzie (Sean) Conner, both of New Castle; and two granddaughters, Reilly Rosta and Trinity Rosta.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Wayne Disque.
Private visitation will be held for immediate family later this week at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle. A blessing service will be celebrated at the funeral home. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Resurrection Mausoleum.
Lord God, you are attentive to the voice of our pleading. Give Dale eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on him forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord. Amen.
