Constance ‘Connie’ Lucy Maiorano, 97, of N. Lafayette Street, Mahoningtown, died Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Shenango on the Greens in New Wilmington. She was born in New Castle on October 22, 1925, a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Elizabeth (Cea) Zumpella. She was married to the late Nicholas M. Maiorano, who died on December 28, 2000.
Connie worked at JB as a secretary and at Liberty Supermarket as a cashier retiring after 29 years. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vincent de Paul site. She enjoyed praying and baking cookies for weddings and all family events. She loved the holidays and playing cards, but above all she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Rosanne C. Palladino and her husband, Michael, Nicholas J. Maiorano and his wife, Diane, and Annmarie Rosati and her husband, Chris, all from New Castle; three grandchildren, Jamilyn Lemmon and her husband Craig, Nicholas J. Maiorano, Jr. and his wife Maria, and Amanda Rosati; and three great-grandchildren, Gianah, Nicholas III, and Lorenzo.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by five brothers, Clem Zumpella, Mike Zumpella, Joe Zumpella, Ernie Zumpella, and Frank Zumpella, and one sister, Jennie Cenname.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 25, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 am for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Ben Barr will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Connie, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
