Clara L. Melchiorre, 98, of New Castle passed away peacefully the afternoon of January 11, 2022 at Quality Life Services of New Castle. Born on September 20, 1923 in Ellwood City, Clara was the daughter of the late Sam and Mary Rozzi Pezzi. On November 29, 1947, Clara married her beloved husband, Eugene Melchiorre. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2005.
Clara had retired from Bill’s Bake Shop in Mahoningtown, after many years of service. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vincent de Paul (St. Lucy Church) site. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Clara’s greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Carol Pastore, two brothers-in-law, Alfred Melchiorre (Eileen), Joseph Melchiorre and sister-in-law, Patricia Donadio (Robert), two grandchildren, Ryan Pastore (Autumn), Justin Pastore (Corina) and three great-grandchildren, Graecyn Pastore, Brooklyn Pastore and Emilia Pastore and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Clara was preceded in death by her son-in-law, David C. Pastore, Four brothers and their spouses, Charles and Rose Pezzi, Louis and Val Pezzi, Frank and Martha Pezzi, John and Betty Pezzi, five sisters, Mary Buccelli, Rose Carone, Vernie and Leroy Geary, Lillian and James Bellissimo and Evelyn and Mike Carrozza, sister-in-law, Rosina Melchiorre and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Sam and Eleanor Caroluk.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no visitation. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church, celebrated by Fr. Lou Vallone. Burial will be in St. Lucy Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St.
Eternal rest grant unto Clara, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
