Clara C. Canfora, 90, of New Castle passed away the evening of December 27, 2020 at Jameson Care Center. Born in New Castle on October 10, 1930, Clara was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Minnie Mazzocca Cappiello. Preceding her in death on January 16, 2006, is her husband of fifty four years, Joseph J. Canfora whom she married on December 13, 1952.
Clara was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site. She enjoyed her card club, playing bingo with her friends and traveling. Clara was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished the time she spent with her family.
Clara is survived by her children, Mary Jo Canfora-Niles of Martinsburg, WV, Alex Canfora (Waleska) of Las Vegas, Joseph Canfora (Teresa) of Chicago, Gary Canfora (Beth Ann) of New Wilmington, PA; her sisters, Rachel Smith of New Castle, Josephine Abraham of Las Vegas, Jean Williams of Pulaski, Patricia Costa of New Castle, Carolyn Alfera of Sharpsville, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Clara is preceded in death by her brother, Pasquale Cappiello and her sister, Jennie Cappiello.
Due to the current health crisis, a private service will be held at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home 941 S. Mill St conducted by Seminarian Merv Knieriem of Holy Spirit Parish. Burial will take place at St. Vitus Cemetery.
Lord God, you are attentive to the voice of our pleading. Give Clara eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on her forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord. Amen.
