Cindy Lee (Edeburn) Pozzuto, accomplished business owner, writer, chef, baker and lover of all things Christmas, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 16, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones. Cindy, 63 was born on February 5, 1958, in Ellwood City, PA, the daughter of the late Howard and Pauline Edeburn.
To all who knew and loved her, and to strangers as well, Cindy was truly a gift from God. A 1976 graduate of Wilmington High School, Cindy began her professional career in the flooring and interior design industry, becoming accomplished in Computer Aided Drafting while owning and operating her own flooring design business. Eventually Cindy went on to become a skilled remodeler and home designer, ultimately serving as a consultant and general contractor for several residential log home projects, including the one she shared with her husband of sixteen years, Todd R. Pozzuto.
It was at this Neshannock Township residence and farm where Cindy pursued several other passions including raising horses, sheep, llama and countless dogs, cats and virtually anything else that wandered on to her property. A dedicated animal lover, Cindy also tracked and catalogued at least 26 different species of birds and waterfowl that frequented the farm, becoming knowledgeable in their migration and feeding habits. Also at the farm, Cindy tended to an organic garden, raising a variety of vegetables which were integrated into various dishes created in her kitchen then served at countless holiday gatherings where she routinely prepared gourmet-style dinners for over twenty family members at a time. Speaking of the holidays, Cindy’s Christmas-themed model train display was legendary. Beginning each October for many years, Cindy assembled the trains, tracks, scenery and characters she had designed and crafted with uncanny attention to detail, often incorporating her and her husband’s love of travel, motorcycles and spirited adventure.
If there ever was any spare time left over in her busy, rewarding days, Cindy was also an author of several children’s books, a seamstress, photographer, historian and collector of interesting and unique artifacts.
A devoted member of the Catholic faith and of The Holy Spirit St. Vitus Parish, Cindy is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Todd R. Pozzuto, daughter Shannon (Whiting) Felasco and sister, Sherry (Edeburn) Lersch, along with stepdaughters Emily (Pozzuto) Carlton, Lisa (Pozzuto) DeWitt and Nicole Pozzuto, and six grandchildren; Marina, Ava, Maddox, Olivia, Silas and Vivienne, all of whom continue to be inspired by Cindy’s impressive work ethic and her kind, generous and loving nature.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 18 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday for Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00. Father Brendan Dawson will be officiating. Burial will be in Castle View Cemetery.
