Charles Edward Provencher Jr. 95, of Edinburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at the Atrium of Anna Maria in Aurora, Ohio, on Monday, May 15, 2023.
Mr. Provencher was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, on Dec. 4, 1927, to the late Charles Edward Provencher Sr. and Marie Metivier Ludwig. He married Ellen Munia on July 23, 1960, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 2014.
Charles is a World War II veteran, serving as part of the Occupation Force of Japan. He would later earn his bachelor's degree from Drexel College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He retired from NASA Research Center of Cleveland, Ohio, as a mechanical engineer. He was also a member of the Catholic faith at Holy Spirit Parish of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
Charles was an active participant in the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He enjoyed photography, reading and listening to music. He also enjoyed working beside his wife, Ellen, on the family farm. He was hard working and kind. He loved his family very much and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include two sons, John G. (Kelly) Provencher of Edinburg, Pennsylvania, and Paul D. (Kim) Provencher of North Royalton, Ohio; a former daughter-in-law, Kim Schultz of North Royalton; five grandchildren:, Samantha (Kyle) Nelson, Jennifer (Jarod) Eisenbrown, Gabrielle and Dominique Provencher and Caitlyn (Ty) Blake; along with five great-grandchildren Emma, Jacob, Lucas, Josephine and Jade.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Annette.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 20, 2023, at The Smith Funeral Home 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington, PA. The funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus Church with Father Benjamin Barr officiating. Interment will follow at Petersburg Cemetery, Petersburg, Ohio.
Eternal rest grant unto Charles, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
