Betty C. Owoc, 87, of Union Township passed away the afternoon of Nov. 19, 2022, at Avalon Place. Born on Dec. 10, 1934, in New Castle, Betty was born the daughter of the late Michael and Katherine Cwynar Cwiakala. On Aug. 30, 1958, Betty married her beloved husband, Marion W. Owoc. He preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 2014.
In her early years, Betty worked for Penn Power. She then worked for the Union Area School District. She enjoyed Polka dancing, going to bingo and cooking. A loving mother and grandmother, Betty's greatest joy was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children, David Owoc (Adele), Tom Owoc (Amy); and three grandchildren, Michael Owoc (Alyse), Emily Owoc-Edwards (Evan) and Jacob Owoc.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Chester and Theodore Cwiakala and Stanley Cwykala; two sisters, Helen Barrett and Wanda Blazic; and four nephews, Chester Cwiakala Jr., James Cwiakala, Marshall Cwiakala and Robert Blazic.
A private service was held at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road, conducted by Seminarian Dan Roberts of Holy Spirit Parish. Burial was in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
Eternal rest grant unto Betty, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
