Barbara R. Kahrer, 85, of Woodbridge, Virginia,, formerly of New Castle, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023. Barbara was born Jan. 19, 1937, in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Zarilla) Quarella.
Barbara was of Roman Catholic faith. She graduated from St. Francis Nursing School and worked as a nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital, as well as the former Potomac Hospital in Virginia. She retired from Dominion Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. She enjoyed baking, reading and rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Barbara is survived by her children, Renee (Anthony) Gabriele of New Castle, Pennsylvania, and Andrew J. Kahrer Jr. of Arlington, Virginia; and sisters, JoAnn (Thomas) Kent of Charleston, South Carolina, and Mary Jane (Nicholas) Kliem of New Castle, Pennsylvania.
There will be no calling hours. Services will be private and are entrusted to Noga Funeral Home, Inc.
Eternal rest grant unto Barbara, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
