Ba rbara E. Kos, 82, of 12th Street, West Pittsburg, passed away peacefully the morning of August 17, 2020, as a result of a lingering illness. Barbara was born August 9, 1938, in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late George and Wanda (Jara) Hritz. Barbara was married the love of her life, Anthony Kos Jr on August 1, 1959. They were married for 61 wonderfully happy years. He survives at home.
Mrs. Kos was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Holy Spirit Parish. She was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1956. Mrs. Kos will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Barbara was a very kind, compassionate, selfless person and always had a kind word toward others. She was a devout Catholic loving her faith and church, she especially enjoyed praying novenas to St. Anthony.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson.
In addition to her husband, Anthony, Barbara is survived by her son, Dr. Anthony J. (Lisa) Kos of Transfer, Pennsylvania; daughter, Susan Shoaff of West Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Mark A. Shoaff, Stacie C. Shoaff, Hunter A. Kos and Lauren O. Kos; and great-grandson, Anthony E. Pearson.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.
Private family visitation will be held at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill Street New Castle.
A private Blessing Service will immediately following visitation in the funeral home. Seminarian Merv E. Knieriem of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery.
Lord God, you are attentive to the voice of our pleading. Give Barbara eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on her forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord. Amen.
