September 12th is our First Annual Holy Spirit Parish Picnic. It will be held in Cascade Park beginning with Holy Mass at 11:00 am. After Mass, our three food trucks will be open from Noon to 6:00 pm to take the free food tickets you get when you check in at the Registration Table. There will be competitive games from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, including Bocce and Cornhole for adults as well as games designed for the kids. During the day, vintage cars will be displayed in front of the Dance Pavilion, visible from East Washington Street. Paint the Holy Spirit on Canvas will be in the Carousel building from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. The Red Coat Band will play from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Then, at 4:00 pm, we open our celebration to residents of the county to hear the music of the Dorals, who will play until 6:00 pm. Why are we doing this? To build community. To thank and celebrate all of you who make up Holy Spirit Parish. To thank God for the blessings he bestows upon us every day regardless of life’s struggles and challenges. To renew old friendships and make new ones. To just have a wonderful afternoon to pray and celebrate our life in Christ together as one family! These are all the reasons why so many volunteers and staff have worked so hard to make this first Parish Picnic one of many to come. Please view our website. We are asking parishioners to register because we will be providing free food tickets and a wrist band to everyone who is registered, parishioners and their guests alike. To register, go to https://holy-spirit-parish.communio.org/parish-picnic/OR go to HSPLC.ORG and click on the picnic poster. See the Back Page of this bulletin for a paper form. (See also Page 13.)I hope and pray that you will plan now to come. I’m sure it will be a time blessed by the Lord. He said himself where two or three are gathered in His Name, he is there. We are gathering in His Name and for His purpose, to praise Him, to thank Him and to live our life in Him in unity and peace. There is an old saying from the Cursillo Retreat: “Be a friend, make a friend, and bring a friend to Christ.”
