Arturo Mascio, 87, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of June 23, 2020, at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born on July 14, 1932, in Rivisondoli, L'Aquila, Italy, he was a son of the late Nicola and Ercolina Casbarra Mascio. Arturo is survived by his beloved wife, the former Maria Romito. They were married on Sept. 28, 1958.
In the early years, Arturo had worked for the Crane Company and Pentex. He later retired from Neshannock School District.
Arturo was a dedicated member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site, where he served as an usher for more than 40 years. Arturo was known as "Mr. Handyman" as he was always up to the challenge of fixing things, ready to help someone whenever they would need help. A loving husband, father and grandfather, his greatest joy was time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Arturo is survived by his children, Ercolina Kennedy and her husband, Gregory, Nicholas Mascio, and Linda Thomas and her husband, Michael J., all of New Castle; his sister, Antonietta Mascio of Italy; five grandchildren, Allyson Kennedy, Vanessa Kennedy and Stephen Kennedy, and Michael-Arthur Thomas and Miranda Thomas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Calgary, Canada, and Italy.
In addition to his parents, Arturo was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Fernando and Luciano Mascio; his sisters, Emerina (Mascio) DiMarino and Anna (Mascio) Ramicone; and two brothers-in-law, Salvatore DiMarino and Alfred Ramicone.
Honoring his wishes, the visitation is private for the family with a
Blessing Service conducted by Father Brendan Dawson of Holy Spirit Parish at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. Entombment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
