Christ is Risen; He has indeed Risen! A glorious and joyous Easter to all of you! My sincere gratitude to everyone who assisted in all of our Lenten, Holy Week and Easter liturgies. We are particularly grateful to those who led the Stations of the Cross, decorated our churches throughout the entire Lenten and Easter season and all those of you in sacred ministry, including those assisting in the parking lot and as Ushers, Greeters, Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, Sacristans, as well as Musicians and Cantors. I am always personally very grateful to our parish staff for all the hard work they do behind the scenes to keep our parish on track and caring for everyone’s needs. Thank you also to all of our Volunteers who worked the Mardi Gras, Raffles, Lenten Fish Dinners, Easter Bread making, and finally Easterfest.
Last year as you know, we were not able to celebrate Holy Week and Easter due to the pandemic, so this year doing so is all the more joyous and life giving!
Speaking of joy, I announced last week that we would be celebrating the patron feast days in each of our seven churches on those particular days of the calendar year. These will be special occasions when we can all come together to give thanks to God for the intercession of these patron saints, and celebrate the memories and good works that have occurred in all of these sacred places over the years. It is true, however, that due to financial constraints and personnel limitations, we will not be able to celebrate Mass in all of these churches every weekend.
On Saturday, May 1st, the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, we will celebrate Mass at St. Joseph the Worker at 4:00 pm. This will count for your Sunday obligation. We have permission from the Diocese to celebrate the Solemnity of St. Joseph in place of the Sunday Mass.
This is very serendipitous given that this is the Year of St. Joseph. We pray that St. Joseph will intercede for our parish, that like him we will be open to God’s will in our lives even when it is surprising and unexpected.
Devotion to St. Joseph is one of the choicest graces that God can give to a soul, for it is tantamount to revealing the entire treasury of our Lord’s graces. When God wishes to raise a soul to greater heights,he unites it to St. Joseph by giving it a strong love for the good saint. ~ St. Peter Julian Eymard. God love you,
