Welcome to Anthony Pampena, our Seminarian for the summer. The following is a little about Anthony, in his own words: My name is Anthony Pampena. I am a third-year seminarian for the Diocese of Pittsburgh and am currently studying theology at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland. I was born (January of 1999) and raised in Eighty-Four, PA. My parents, Angelo and Sharon Pampena, raised me in the Catholic faith and taught me that love is the most important part of life. I grew up valuing relationships with family and friends, and I have always enjoyed meeting new people.
Though I am an only child, God has blessed me with many brothers and sisters. That’s why, if you would ask me what my favorite hobby is, I’d tell you that I love a good glass of red wine, some bourbon, or a cigar. But in truth, my favorite hobby is spending time with good people.
Throughout grade school (St. Thomas More in Bethel Park), high school (Ringgold), college (University of Pittsburgh), and beyond, my favorite part of any experience has always been the people. My friends tell me that it’s just my Italian side. Whatever the case may be, it is this love for people that God has asked me to share with his people as his priest, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue that journey with you. Thank you, Fr. Mac, for this opportunity to share a bit about myself as I prepare to be with you this summer and in the years ahead. I had the pleasure of meeting Anthony’s parents at the Parish Fish Fry on March 24th. This Sunday, April 23rd, Seminarian Dan Roberts will receive the Rite of Candidacy during the 9:00 am Mass in St. Vitus Church. If you saw Dan’s guest message in this space last Sunday, you know how special it is for Dan and for Holy Spirit Parish that the Rite of Candidacy is held here.
