Anthony F. Vendilli, Sr., 89, of Union Township passed away the afternoon of August 5, 2023 at Northview Estates in Ellwood City. Born in New Castle on April 3, 1934, Anthony was the son of the late Frank and Mary Ascione Vendilli. On July 2, 1955, Anthony married his beloved wife, the former Cherie A. Kelly. She preceded him in death on November 17, 2017.
Anthony worked as a railroad conductor for forty-three years for the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired from ConRail. He was an active member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site where he served as an usher for many years. Anthony proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War Era. He also enjoyed being outdoors going fishing and camping. A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Anthony’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
Anthony is survived by his son, Anthony Vendilli (Michelle), grandson, Chris Vendilli (Tracey), three great-grandchildren, Natalie, Giulia and Nora.
In addition to his parents and wife, Anthony was preceded in death by his brother, Ben, and three sisters, Catherine, Dolores and Nancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church officiated by Father Aaron Kriss. Burial was in Madonna Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.
Eternal rest grant unto Anthony, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
