Annette Fulena

August 7, 1936 to August 4, 2020

Annette M. Fulena, 83, of Union Township, passed away the afternoon of August 4, 2020 at UPMC Jameson. Born on August 7, 1936 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Theresa Sackin Medure. On May 18, 1956, she married her husband, Paul Fulena. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1987.

Annette was a former secretary for the New Castle School District, until she retired in 1997. Annette was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site. She was also a member of the St. Vitus Ladies Guild.

Annette loved the outdoors, swimming, walking, fishing, bike riding and gardening. She enjoyed dancing and collecting antiques. Annette was a member of the League of St. Jude. She had served as the Democratic committee woman for the 4th ward, 3rd district in New Castle for many years. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Annette’s greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Annette is survived by her children, Paul Fulena (Karen), Toni Mielke, Lisa Mangino (Doug), and Steven Fulena all of New Castle, her Companion, Dick Sommers, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Due to the current health situation within our community, there will be a private visitation and Blessing Service for the family held at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 941 South Mill St. Deacon John Carran will officiate.

Lord God, you are attentive to the voice of our pleading. Give Annette eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on her forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
