Anne Kwolek, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away the morning of June 22, 2020, at Quality of Life Service-Golden Hills. Anne was born on Dec. 2, 1922, in Hungary. She was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Toth) Kolesar. She was married to the late Walter F. Kwolek. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1984.
Anne was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary's site. She was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1939. Anne will be remembered as a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked as a clerk in the office of Pennsylvania Railroad and later the office of Sears. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, traveling, gardening, reading and shopping. She also had a passion for portrait painting and had some of her work shown at the Hoyt Center.
She loved deeply her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, whom she was known to as "Nana."
Anne is survived by her son, William A. (Teri) Kwolek of Windsor, Connecticut: two daughters, Kathleen S. (Robert) Dartnell of Fairview, Pennsylvania, and Laurel A. Sabol of New Castle; sister, Martha Kitts of Avon Lake, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Matthew Kwolek, Julie (Dan) Popa Steven Dartnell, Thomas (Victoria) Sabol, Annie (Derek) Stephens Caroline Dartnell and Robert Dartnell; and four great-grandchildren, Ava Popa, Sophia Popa, Vivienne Sabol and Vincent Sabol.
In addition to her parents and husband, Walter, Anne was preceded in death by an infant brother, Michael Kolesar; brother, George Kolesar; and sisters, Helen Emery and Margaret Pacelli.
There will be no calling hours, but
a Mass of Christian burial and Rite of Committal will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020, at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church, located at 910 S. Mercer St., New Castle, Pa. 16101.
The Rev. Anthony Sciarappa, parochial vicar of Holy Spirit Parish, will officiate.
