Ammie R. Maravelli, 88, of New Castle passed away the morning of January 19, 2023 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Ammie was born in New Castle on February 7, 1934 to the late Anthony Quarto and Elizabeth Russo Quarto. Ammie was then adopted by Anthony and Susie Russo Maravella, who also preceded him in death. On October 16, 1954 Ammie married his beloved wife, the former Anita Mutsatsos. She survives at home.
Ammie had worked for Mesta Machine for twenty-six years and then worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service retiring after fifteen years there. He was a member of Queen of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Vienna, Ohio, and former member of St. Lucy Church. Ammie enjoyed visiting casinos and traveling. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Ammie’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family and his beloved pets.
In addition to his wife, Ammie is survived by his children, Renee and James Penn of Warren, OH, Ann and Bill Kumrow of Mt. Jackson, PA, Laverne and Dr. Dan Malone of New Castle, PA, Louis and Patty Quarto of Eighty- Four, PA, Bill and Darlene Maravelli of Mt. Jackson, PA and Dr. Ammie Maravelli of New Castle; his three sister-in-laws, Joyce Quarto, Betty Maravella and Lorraine Hanna (Kevin); three grandchildren, Ashley Kumrow, Austin Malone and Cole Malone; and one great-grandchild, Arianna Zarlingo.
In addition to his parents and adopted parents, Ammie was preceded in death by four brothers, Louis Quarto, James Quarto, David Maravelli and Nick Quarto and four sisters, Annettta Compelio, Pearl Bruno, Caroline Perillo and Rachel Peluso.
Visitation will be on Friday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Queen of Holy Rosary Church, 291 Scoville Dr., Vienna, OH 44473. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Queen of Holy Rosary Church. Father Joshua Houck will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Ammie, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
