Agnes Rigby, 74, of Shenango Township passed away the morning of April 9, 2022 at West Penn Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born on December 16, 1947 in Ellwood City, Agnes was the daughter of the late Marco and Rose Nocera DiCerbo.
On June 24, 1972, Agnes married her beloved husband, George Herbert Rigby. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2006. Agnes was a graduate of Slippery Rock University where she had earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Agnes, being very proud of her Italian heritage, taught the Italian for twenty-five years in the New Castle School District. She also taught adult classes in Italian at Vo-Tech.
Agnes also enjoyed traveling. For a time, she also worked as a hairdresser where she met some wonderful friends. A loving mother, and grandmother, Agnes’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.
Agnes is survived by her children, Marc H. Rigby (Desiree) of Pittsburgh, George S. Rigby of New Castle, three grandchildren, Alexandra, Maxwell and Reagan and her loving family, Mary DiCerbo and Anna DiCerbo of Ellwood City.
Visitation will be on Tuesday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Entombment will be in Parkside Mausoleum.
Eternal rest grant unto Agnes, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
