Agnes L. ”Aggie” Noga-Smith, 93, of Sheridan Ave., New Castle, passed away the afternoon of February 1, 2021 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Agnes was born September 18, 1927 to the late Michael and Barbara Janovick Keyso. Agnes was married to her first husband, Raymond T. “Sharkey” Noga for over 30 years. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1993. She then married Frank T. Smith, they were married for over 10 years, and he preceded her in death on October 23, 1993.
Agnes worked with her brother-in-law, Lee Troggio, when he opened up his restaurant “Troggio’s” as a hostess for many years. She later worked for her husband, Frank Smith, owner of Castle Optical in the office.
Agnes was Roman Catholic and a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus site. She was a woman of great faith and watched Mass and prayed the rosary daily. Aggie was a peacemaker. She loved Peace and Harmony. She hated gossip and never spoke ill of anyone. Everyone was a work in progress and God was not done with anyone!
Agnes enjoyed sewing, embroidery and upholstering. She loved to cook and bake for her family. She also loved to watch home shopping channels and QVC was her favorite. She always shopped with her family in mind. Agnes loved animals and donated to their organizations. She enjoyed family dinner and especially enjoyed preparing special lunches for her daughter’s teacher friends every Wednesday.
Survivors include her two daughters, Karin (Jack) Kosior and Barbara (Robert) Geary, both of New Castle; twin sister, Ann Troggio of New Castle; two grandchildren, Richard C. and his (fiance Beth Varhol) Geary and Carolyn Rae (Ryan) Vivelo, both of New Castle; five great-grandchildren, Allison Geary, Cara Geary, Emmelyn Geary, Averi Vivelo, and Mila Vivelo; and many nieces and nephews.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. 1142 S. Mill St. New Castle. A Private Blessing Service will be celebrated immediately following visitation in the funeral home. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home, Inc.
Lord God, you are attentive to the voice of our pleading. Give Aggie eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on her forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord. Amen.
