William H. Lippmann, 87, of Edinburg passed away the evening of Jan. 28, 2020, at home with his family at his side. He was born on April 15, 1932, in New Castle. He was a son of the late William P. and Elizabeth Denny Lippmann.
William was married to the former Anna M. Kraner who preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 2008. They were married of 52 years.
Mr. Lippmann was of the Roman Catholic faith and a member of Holy Spirit Parish St. James the Apostle site. William was a graduate of Shenango High School. Following graduation, William enlisted in the Army on Jan. 29, 1953, in Pittsburgh. Mr. Lippmann earned the rank of corporal on July 20, 1954. William was awarded numerous medals and citations, among those were the Army Occupation Medal Germany and National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Lippmann was honorably discharged on Jan. 6, 1955, at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey.
William retired after 15 years of service as an etcher and truck driver with Custom Etch Inc. in New Castle. William was also a manager for Kroger Supermarket for 30 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, going to the mountains and hunting. He loved country music and keeping busy. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lippmann is survived by his six children, Robert W. (Karen) Lippmann of Mercer, Veronica A. (LeRoy) Houk of Sharon, William A (Terry) Lippmann of Bessemer, and Rose M. (John) Maritch, Ronald E. Lippmann and Gwendolen J. Lippmann, all of New Castle; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Anna, William was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Lippmann; and two brothers, Jim Lippmann and Don Lippmann.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill St., New Castle. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full military honors for William at 5:45 p.m. at the funeral home. A Blessing Service officiated by Deacon John Kielar, will immediately follow visitation at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
