Rose Marie Marcantino, 98, formerly of West Pittsburg passed away the evening of January 13, 2020 at UPMC Jameson. Rose was born on January 7, 1922 in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Caroline Sacco. On April 30, 1946, Rose married her beloved husband, James “Chaz” Marcantino. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2010.
Rose graduated from New Castle High School in 1940. She attended St. Francis School of Nursing and graduated in 1943.Rose worked at St. Francis Hospital in the Medical Surgical Unit as a Registered Nurse for twentyfive years. She retired as Head Nurse in 1986. Rose was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vincent de Paul Site.
Rose had a great passion for nursing. She enjoyed singing and bird watching. Rose loved her pets. Her greatest joy was spending quality time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Rose is survived by her children, Jean Iafrat, James Marcantino and his wife Dawn Lyn, Dan Marcantino and his wife Rochelle, all of New Castle, her sister, Della Caravella of West Pittsburg, two grandchildren, Erin McCauley and Sean Marcantino, four great-grandchildren, Madison, Jax, Ireland and Sadie.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by her brothers, James, William, Samuel and Anthony, her sisters, Josephine, Angeline, Antoinette, and Mary.
A Private Visitation and Blessing Service for the family will be held at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St. Father Victor Molka, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
