Ronald A. Scrim, 90, of New Castle, passed away the evening of June 11, 2020 at the Haven Convalescent Home. Born on September 12, 1929 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marie Regna Scrim. On April 8, 195, Ron married his beloved wife, the former Donna Lee Covert. She preceded him in death on February 22, 1997.
Ron served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for over thirty years, until he retired.
He was a devoted member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site. Ron was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 512, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Sons of Italy. He was an avid golfer. Ron enjoyed going to church daily and Praying the Rosary. Ron loved throwing and attending “Shindigs”. A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather Ron’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
Ron is survived by his children, Denise L. Pagley and her husband, Edward, of New Castle, Ronald Scrim, Jr. and his wife, Marie, of Poland, Ohio, and Terri L. Pace and her husband, John, of Beaver County, PA, his brother, Richard Scrim and his wife, Sandra, of New Castle, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Scrim and two sisters, Irene Campbell and Jackie Brown.
Private visitation will be held for the family at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site. Father Brendan Dawson will officiate. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that an extra prayer or Rosary be said in memory of Ron. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Tanner family and the staff at the Haven Convalescent Home for their wonderful care of Ron.
