It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Michael Scarazzo on the morning of January 22, 2021 at the age of 74. Bob was born in New Castle to the late Norman and Mary Scarazzo.
He graduated from Westminster College, in New Wilmington, PA and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics with a minor psychology. While attending college, Bob was the captain of the Westminster Titans football team. He won several awards including National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, All-American Linebacker in 1967 and was one of the first inductees to the Westminster Titan Sports Hall of Fame. Bob was lifelong member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
Bob worked for the Toyota Corporation for several years of his career, training finance managers for automotive dealerships. He also worked in transportation, for many years as a regional manager of the 14 western states. For the past 21 years, Bob was the founder and owner of the Robert M. Scarazzo Trucking Company. He loved owning his own business and working directly with his drivers.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing boating, hunting, camping, skiing, snow mobile riding, archery, and golf. He loved to spend time near the water, especially later in his life, including rivers, lakes, and the ocean. He fished all over the United States and in Mexico.
He was a warm and generous soul. Bob had a gregarious and fun-loving personality that is truly unforgettable. He loved telling stories about his adventures. He enjoyed lively conversations, food, and music. Helping others gave him great joy. He never really met a stranger and chose to see the good in people. Bob believed in others potential. He treated others with respect and was a source of great support to the people he loved, no matter what they were going through. He always celebrated their successes and was proud of their accomplishments.
Bob was always a family man. He leaves behind his loving wife Gloria, who simply adored him. She was his high-school sweetheart. He also leaves his son, Dr. Robert Scarazzo and his wife, Anne, his daughter, Kristie Scarazzo and his darling granddaughter, Penelope Haydu, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his brothers, Norman and Christopher Scarazzo, and his sister Marian Scarazzo.
In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by his two younger sisters, Gloria and Annette Scarazzo.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday July 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary Church. Fr. Benjamin Barr will officiate. Internment will be in Parkside Mausoleum.
