Women from Holy Spirit Parish have contributed to the mission of Stitching Angels through the work of their hands by knitting, or crocheting, or cutting and tying or other means to make items for those who are in need across the parish.
This October I made deliveries to organizations who can use handmade items:
Catholic Charities—6 toddler hats, 7 infant/toddler sweaters with hats, 1 infant vest with hat, 7 crocheted baby blankets; Children’s Advocacy—12 children’s fleece blankets; Hope Place—2 baby quilts, 7 children’s blankets; The Grove (formerly Silver Oaks): 9 walker totes; City Rescue Mission—6 full-sized fleece blankets; People In Need—12 full-sized fleece blankets; UPMC Friends of Hospice—7 prayer shawls; Avalon Nursing Home— 9 walker totes; and Fr. Molka for nursing home residents—5 prayer shawls, 1 lap blanket and 6 walker totes. Great work, Angels!
Additional deliveries won’t be made until after the next meeting on November 14. Donated fleece will be trimmed and punched by then. The fabric for chemo pillow cases and rice packs has been organized and the yarn is in the process of being reorganized into color families. There is a current need for chemo hats and lap blankets. There are some nice soft yarns for the chemo hats and there is plenty of yarn for lap blankets and baby blankets.
As always, many thanks to all for your support of this ministry and for your time, talent and kind and generous hearts. May God richly bless all of you. For more information or to volunteer, contact me at 724-658-0087.
